Foundations, Inc.
Location: Flexible hybrid/remote, with in-person collaboration preferred in Mount Laurel, NJ
Schedule: Part-time, approximately 10–15 hours per week
About Foundations
Foundations, Inc. is a nonprofit organization committed to improving educational opportunities in schools, after school, and in communities. We partner with schools, districts, nonprofit organizations, and education leaders to strengthen the programs, systems, and people that support children and communities.
We are a collaborative, flexible, and professional team dedicated to helping educators and programs thrive.
The Role
Foundations is seeking a part-time Social Media Coordinator to help tell the story of our work and the educators, leaders, and programs we support. Working from priorities and an editorial calendar established by the Executive Director of Marketing & Communications, this person will create and publish engaging content, support online community engagement and event coverage, and track performance.
This role is well suited for someone who enjoys turning ideas and information into compelling social content and wants to use those skills to support a mission focused on education and opportunities for young people.
What You Will Do
- Create, schedule, and publish social media content based on established communications priorities and the editorial calendar.
- Develop written, graphic, and short-form video content that communicates Foundations' work, impact, events, and resources.
- Maintain the working social media calendar and manage assignments, deadlines, and content status in Monday.com.
- Monitor social media comments and messages during scheduled work time, respond as appropriate, and flag items requiring additional follow-up.
- Propose content ideas, formats, and timely social opportunities for consideration.
- Support live social coverage and content capture at key Foundations events, including the Beyond School Hours national conference.
- Stay current on relevant social media trends and platform changes and bring forward useful ideas and opportunities.
- Track social media performance and provide regular, straightforward reporting on what is resonating.
- Create social content for The Academy at Penn and other Foundations programs as prioritized through the editorial calendar.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience creating social media content for an organization, business, school, nonprofit, campaign, or other professional setting.
- Strong writing skills and the ability to create clear, engaging social media content tailored to different platforms and audiences.
- Ability to create basic graphics and short-form video using tools such as Canva, CapCut, or similar platforms.
- Strong organization, follow-through, and ability to meet deadlines while working independently.
- Good judgment about when to move work forward and when to ask questions or seek approval.
- Openness to feedback and ability to incorporate revisions efficiently.
- Interest in using communications and social media to advance the work of an education-focused nonprofit organization.
- Familiarity with social media scheduling and management tools.
- Availability for occasional in-person, evening, or weekend work around major events.
Experience in education, nonprofit, mission-driven, or youth-development organizations, event social media coverage, or paid social advertising is a plus.
How We Work
This position offers a flexible work arrangement, with opportunities for both remote work and in-person collaboration at our Mount Laurel office. In-person collaboration is preferred, particularly for team meetings and content gathering, but we recognize that flexibility is important and are open to discussing arrangements that work for the right candidate.
The Social Media Coordinator will participate in regular weekly check-ins with the Executive Director of Marketing & Communications and collaborate closely with the Marketing & Communications Coordinator. Additional collaboration may be needed around major events, including the Beyond School Hours national conference.
Why Foundations?
At Foundations, you will use your communications skills to help amplify work that supports educators, schools, programs, and young people. You will join a mission-driven team that values collaboration, creativity, flexibility, and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution.
