Social Media Strategist Full Description

We are looking for a highly skilled Social Media Strategist to lead Discovery Education’s organic social media presence and brand-building across social media platforms. This individual will own the end-to-end strategy and execution of organic social campaigns that resonate with educators and school communities. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to impact our business objectives by growing our beloved educator community, elevating our brand reputation, and supporting integrated marketing campaigns. This is a high-visibility role that collaborates cross-functionally across business units—including K–12 and Corporate Education Partners—working closely with creative, Growth Marketing, and educator Community teams.

This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with a bias toward creative execution and innovation, and who is energized by building communities and narratives that deepen brand affinity. It is well suited to a self-starter with previous success leading social strategy and working across departments to elevate a unified brand voice.

 In This Role You Will:

Develop and Execute Strategy
• Develop a persona- and funnel-based organic social media strategy focused on brand building, prospect engagement, and community support
• Manage and evolve Discovery Education’s social media calendar across platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
• Craft creative, social-first ideas and inputs for integrated campaigns that grow our audience to support top of funnel goals
• Keep a finger on the pulse of social trends, including up and coming channels for consideration
• Dive deep into the business, our products, and our audiences, to sharpen strategy
Engage and Amplify
• Monitor channels for engagement opportunities and respond to inbound inquiries or issues in a timely, brand-appropriate manner
• Identify and act on social media trends, creating shareable content that enhances Discovery Education’s voice
• Find and follow relevant thought leaders to drive brand engagement and build relationships
• Craft and manage a small paid creator plan and budget to expand brand presence and credibility
• Develop content for our Employee Advocacy tool, supporting employer brand and social selling
Collaborate Across Teams
• Work alongside Marketing teammates to develop and support key company moments and campaigns
• Partner with internal teams including Paid Media, Creative, Content, Community & Advocacy, Growth Marketing, and Product Marketing to ensure strategic alignment
• Strategize seasonal social activations that align with broader brand and marketing initiatives
Measure and Optimize
• Continuously track and analyze performance metrics such as impressions, engagement, and conversions
• Identify optimization opportunities through regular reporting and insights
• Conduct social listening to inform your social approach, and share insights with internal stakeholders to support customer-centric Go-to-Market planning

Credentials and Experience:
• 7+years of experience leading social media strategy, execution, and community management
• Proven ability to manage brand-first, multi-platform social media channels with measurable impact, either in house or in an agency setting
• Experience with social media management and analytics tools (e.g., Sprout Social)
• Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and/or social video content creation
• High attention to detail, strong project management skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally and independently
• Bonus: Experience in education/education technology(preferred) or B2B SaaS
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, education, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• Willingness to travel up to 25%
• Legal right to work in the Unites States
