Under the direction of the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, the Social/Digital Media Content Manager is an exceptional writer, interviewer, and storyteller responsible for producing and managing engaging digital content that strengthens Washtenaw Community College’s visibility, reputation, and enrollment goals.

This position leads the day-to-day management of social and digital media campaigns that support the College’s branding, enrollment and workforce development priorities. The manager produces creative, compelling copy, with accompanying photos and/or video for use across social media and email campaigns. The position requires experience with AI prompting and AI-assisted content creation to enhance efficiency and creativity while maintaining brand authenticity and ethical standards.

Working collaboratively with the Communications Director, Marketing Managers, and members of the creative team and web teams this role ensures content is timely, visually cohesive, and aligned with WCC’s brand and communication standards.

Positions at the College are subject to review to determine eligibility for remote work. This position is currently authorized for remote work.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day planning, scheduling, and execution of social and digital campaigns, ensuring alignment with the College’s overarching social media strategy led by the Communications Director. Develop, maintain, and manage an annual social media content calendar that integrates key institutional priorities, academic milestones, events, and workforce development initiatives. Produce creative, audience-focused content—including copy, photos, and short-form video—for digital platforms such as social media, digital signage, and email. Conduct interviews with students, faculty, alumni, and partners to develop authentic, engaging stories that highlight WCC’s mission and impact. Collaborate with the Communications Director, Marketing Managers, and creative team members to plan campaigns, coordinate messaging, and deliver cohesive, on-brand content. Apply design and visual communication principles—including layout, hierarchy, and color—to ensure social and digital posts are visually engaging and effective. Manage email marketing campaigns, including writing, editing, segmentation, scheduling, and performance tracking. Use AI prompting and AI tools ethically and responsibly to support ideation, content development, and editing while maintaining originality and brand integrity. Coordinate and schedule digital content using tools such as HubSpot, Sprout Social, Mailchimp, and Constant Contact. Track and analyze campaign performance using tools such as Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, Sprout Social, and other social media analytics tools; provide insights and recommendations to enhance engagement. Serve as a digital content resource and advisor to campus departments, offering guidance on social media messaging, tone, and best practices. Ensure all communications meet brand and ethical standards. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:  | Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of three to five (3–5) years of experience in social media management, digital marketing, or a related communications field.  Exceptional writing, interviewing, and storytelling skills, with proven ability to craft compelling, audience-focused content for digital platforms.  Demonstrated success developing and managing social media campaigns (organic and paid) across major platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and X.  Experience with AI prompting and AI-assisted content creation, including understanding of ethical and effective use in marketing and communications.  Proficiency in social and email management tools such as HubSpot, Sprout Social, Mailchimp, and Constant Contact.  Experience using social media analytics platforms, including Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, and native platform insights.  Knowledge of digital design principles and ability to collaborate effectively with designers and multimedia professionals.  Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.  Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work inclusively across diverse teams and audiences.
