Job Summary  | The Cancer Research Informatics Shared Resource at the Markey Cancer Center is recruiting a Software/Data
Professional III
to lead cancer informatics software development efforts for the Markey Comprehensive Cancer Center. This position includes supervision and management of software developers. Duties include ensuring the implementation of effective, user-centered, secure coding practices and the continued technical development and support of critical software systems used by cancer center physician scientists, biostatisticians, and basic scientists. Ideal candidates will be passionate about bringing out the best in a team, providing first class research informatics support, and developing a work environment that values data privacy and security, effective software development practices, and personal respect among staff.

This position will have a remote work arrangement.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities  | Knowledge of batch processing, configuration management, and cloud orchestration techniques are essential. Well versed in software best practices, continuous integration and containerized solutions. Competency in high- and low-level programming languages (C/C++, Java, python, R) is essential along with basic management of large software systems and relational database architectures. Creating streamlined user interfaces for research design and visualization for research output are necessary. Superior communication skills coupled with an ability to navigate an academic environment and work collaboratively with individuals at all levels is key, leadership, supervision, customer service.
