About the Role

As a Software Engineer, you’ll help build Quizlet’s next-generation partner and API platform — the foundation of our LearnOS ecosystem. You’ll work on systems that let external developers, AI agents, and educational platforms connect seamlessly with Quizlet’s content and intelligence services. You’ll collaborate with senior engineers to design secure APIs, integrate external systems, and support the growing network of Quizlet integrations that power learning everywhere.

We’re happy to share that this is an onsite position in our San Francisco office. To help foster team collaboration, we require that employees be in the office a minimum of three days per week: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and as needed by your manager or the company.
In this role, you will
  • Build and maintain REST and gRPC APIs for partner integrations and internal services.
  • Help design systems that power LearnOS and agentic experiences across products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure APIs are reliable, secure, and well-documented.
  • Contribute to internal SDKs, API tooling, and developer enablement frameworks.
  • Participate in design and code reviews to improve reliability and performance.
What you bring to the table
  • 2+ years of software engineering experience (backend, platform, or API development).
  • Experience with REST or gRPC APIs, authentication (OAuth2), and event-driven systems.
  • Proficiency in Node.js, Go, Python, or TypeScript.
  • Curiosity about platform ecosystems, AI integrations, and developer experience.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a learner’s mindset.
