At Proximity Learning, we are looking for Dyslexia Intervention Teachers who support students with dyslexia and related reading challenges by providing explicit, systematic, and multi-sensory literacy instruction grounded in the Science of Reading. In this role, the teacher builds strong, supportive relationships with students while delivering Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions, closely monitoring progress, and thoughtfully adjusting instruction to help every learner grow in reading and spelling with confidence.

Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Intervention
  • Deliver structured literacy instruction that is explicit, systematic, cumulative, and multisensory
  • Provide small-group and/or individual dyslexia intervention aligned to a defined scope and sequence
  • Teach phonemic awareness, phonics, syllable types, morphology, fluency, spelling, and writing
  • Use decodable texts and structured writing activities to reinforce reading skills
  • Implement consistent lesson routines and effective error-correction strategies

Assessment & Data
  • Conduct progress monitoring on a regular basis
  • Analyze student data to adjust pacing, grouping, and instructional focus
  • Document instructional progress and maintain accurate student records
  • Collaborate with instructional teams to support MTSS / RTI decision-making

Collaboration & Communication
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and administrators
  • Communicate progress and instructional strategies to families as required
  • Participate in team meetings, professional learning communities, and coaching sessions

Professional Practice
  • Maintain fidelity to structured literacy and dyslexia intervention practices
  • Participate in ongoing professional development related to dyslexia and literacy instruction
  • Support compliance with state dyslexia laws and district requirements

Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree (required)
  • Master’s degree in Reading, Special Education, or Literacy (preferred)

Certification
  • Valid teaching license in at least one U.S. state

Dyslexia-Specific Training
  • Formal training in structured literacy, such as:
    • Orton-Gillingham–based training
    • LETRS
    • Wilson, Barton, or equivalent program

  • Minimum of 30–60 hours of dyslexia-focused coursework or professional development

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience working with students with dyslexia
  • Experience providing Tier 2 and/or Tier 3 interventions
