Special Education Tutor (In-Person - Newburgh, NY)

We partner with school sites to provide direct, targeted instruction that helps students overcome learning obstacles, build confidence, and achieve academic success.

Role Overview

We are seeking dedicated, certified Special Education Tutors / Instructors to provide direct, high-impact in-person educational support to students at local school sites in Newburgh, NY.

In this role, you will deliver tailored 1:1 or small-group instruction adapted to each student’s unique learning needs, IEP goals, and academic requirements. We are looking for empathetic educators who excel at creating structured, supportive learning environments where students feel encouraged to thrive.

Position Details

• Locations: In-Person at designated school sites in Newburgh, NY
• Schedule: Tentative school-day hours (8:30 AM – 3:30 PM); specific days and session schedules communicated upon assignment
• Format: 100% In-Person

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualized 1:1 or small-group Special Education instruction aligned with student IEP goals and curricular standards.
• Differentiate learning materials and techniques to support diverse learning styles, cognitive abilities, and behavioral needs.
• Track student attendance, engagement, and academic progress throughout each assignment.
• Maintain positive, professional communication with school site contacts and program coordinators.
• Foster a safe, encouraging, and structured learning atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Special Education Teaching Certification (Required).
• Proven experience working with students receiving special education services in a school, clinical, or formal tutoring setting.
• Strong classroom management, lesson adaptation, and student engagement skills.
• Reliable transportation to travel to assigned school locations in Newburgh, NY.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Ability to commute to/from Adelanto, CA REQUIRED
• Must clear FBI-DOJ background check that is taken in-person
• Previous tutoring/teaching experience highly preferred
• Ability to make learning fun and interactive, with the focus of the tutoring often determined by student questions and comments
• Comfortable working in a classroom setting
• Negative TB Test Result
