Join McGraw-Hill Education (MHE) as a Senior Data Engineer within the Data and Analytics team and help transform business intelligence capabilities across financial, product, customer, user, and third-party domains. You’ll play a hands-on role architecting and delivering scalable reporting and analytics solutions to support innovation in education.

This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States. Candidates must be available to work during Eastern Time (ET) core hours.

What You'll Do:
  • Develop and deliver AWS-based data solutions with hands-on cloud engineering expertise
  • Build and manage big data pipelines using Databricks or similar Spark-based platforms
  • Design and implement parallel ETL processes to optimize resources and processing speed
  • Architect data models and modern data solutions including cloud technologies
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to translate business needs into technical requirements
  • Drive performance monitoring and reliability of the Data Platform
  • Lead the creation of technical specification design and end-to-end documentation
  • Ensure runbook SLA compliance and oversee daily cloud platform operations
  • Utilize tools like Git, Jira, and agile methodologies for project management
 
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering and cloud technologies
  • Proficiency in AWS services such as Lambda, EMR, Glue, and Athena with Iceberg
  • Advanced skills in SQL, Python scripting, and Terraform
  • Deep knowledge of data warehousing, data lake architecture, and version control
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience using AWS for data technology solutions
 
Preferred Experience & Skills:
  • Experience in Publication or Education domains
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau or Alteryx
  • Background working with financial data (e.g., sales, revenue, COGS, manufacturing)
  • Exposure to IBM Planning Analytics (TM1)
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks
  • Familiarity with Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code tools
  • Experience working with data lakes, data warehouses, or cloud data platforms
  • Exposure to DevOps, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines

The pay range for this position is between $124,000- $155,000 USD annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
