Job Purpose
The Sr. eLearning Development Specialist, JNLD creates high quality and engaging eLearning modules and maintains learning assets for Distribution using adult learning principles, following an established instructional design process. The Sr. eLearning Development Specialist, JNLD conducts training and program analyses to produce effective, innovative, and creative computer- and classroom-based trainings, simulations, and microlearnings. This individual analyzes training effectiveness and works directly with management to identify solutions for future training needs and adjustments for existing courses. Additionally, the Sr. eLearning Development Specialist, JNLD serves as a project manager for the Distribution training team, supporting large-scale training efforts.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Implements training solutions utilizing a variety of methodologies, such as eLearning, instructor-led sessions, or microlearning, for optimal development of sales professionals.
  • Applies adult learning principles and effective eLearning techniques to produce online learning and classroom deliverables.
  • Designs, conducts, and interprets training evaluations, creating trainings to meet the needs of the organization and individual and adjusting existing training programs as a result of learner/programmatic feedback.
  • Coordinates all aspects of training design and delivery, including needs analysis, content development, stakeholder reviews, and deployment of completed programs.
  • Consults with business partners, technical specialists, subject matter experts, and other members of the training department to achieve program goals.
  • Provides guidance to the training team and shares expertise in the development and use of preferred eLearning development methodologies for course design (ADDIE/SAM).
  • Utilizes various authoring and rapid deployment tools to create advanced eLearning tutorials and programs.
  • Analyzes, recommends, and determines instructional/design requirements based on needs and feedback.
  • Collaborates with other Distribution training team members to apply a systematic approach to curriculum design and development.
  • Collaborates with management to support an eLearning strategy appropriate for Jackson.
  • Evaluates learning technologies, and the procurement of the technology and software to support it, in partnership with other Learning & Development departments across the enterprise.
  • Collaborates with other eLearning Development Specialists and Digital Learning Specialists across the enterprise to offer guidance and share expertise in the development and use of digital learning development methodologies.
  • Uses effective project management strategies and tools to manage projects, ensuring deliverables satisfy expectations and timelines.
  • Develops project documentation, instructional design documents, templates, and storyboards using accepted eLearning development standards.

Other Duties
  • Converts existing training materials to a digital learning format upon request.
  • Publishes content via LMS, intranet, or other distribution platform.
  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge in a variety of adult learning concepts and best practices and training procedures.
  • Extensive proficiency designing/authoring interactive learning experiences in a technology-based format.
  • Strong working knowledge of digital development tools, such as Articulate, Camtasia, PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality graphical elements, such as custom images, photos, typography, and layouts that are visually aesthetic.
  • Strong technical knowledge in the digital learning space with the ability to test and troubleshoot course functionality and other online assets.
  • Knowledge of or ability to obtain knowledge of Jackson's distribution and sales roles to provide effective methodologies in their development.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge of skills and business needs, which may include proficiency with: Jackson's product spectrum, Sales Process, key onboarding components, and a general understanding of the financial services industry and financial advisors.
  • Extensive experience in designing effective training solutions and assessing their impact on employee performance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong collaborative partnerships with team members, SMEs, and other key stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with stakeholders at various levels in the organization to recommend training solutions.
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively on simultaneous projects under tight and changing priorities, scopes, and deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills with the ability to reason and simplify complex processes.
  • Desire to continually improve working knowledge of eLearning, instructional design, training, and adult learning principles as a lifelong learner.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and experience required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience designing eLearning courseware required.
  • 3+ years of experience developing trainings, videos, and graphics required.
  • Experience with SumTotal LMS preferred.
  • Ability to provide an eLearning portfolio demonstrating a proven aptitude creating compelling and cohesive courses required.
  • Experience working in a corporate environment designing training systems, procedures, and programs preferred.
