Role Overview

The Senior Manager, Corporate Compliance Engagement & Learning leads the strategy, development, and continuous improvement of BioMarin’s global corporate compliance learning and communications programs. The role translates compliance risks, policies, and expectations into practical learning, communications, and resources that help employees and managers make informed, compliant decisions.

This position owns the global corporate compliance learning strategy, curriculum, governance, and effectiveness framework. It also leads global compliance communications and awareness initiatives and serves as the U.S. Compliance team’s center of excellence for instructional design and content development.

The ideal candidate is a strategic and creative learning professional who combines strong execution with sound judgment and business partnership skills. This individual works effectively across functions and regions, uses data to improve programs, and balances global consistency with regional and functional needs.

Key Responsibilities

Global Compliance Learning Strategy & Governance

  • Lead the annual global compliance learning strategy and curriculum roadmap based on organizational priorities, compliance risks, and regulatory expectations.
  • Establish role-based learning pathways and risk-based training priorities aligned with business and Compliance needs.
  • Partner with Corporate Compliance leaders and subject matter experts to identify learning needs, emerging risks, and capability gaps.
  • Align global, regional, and functional stakeholders around consistent learning objectives while allowing appropriate local adaptation.
  • Monitor industry trends, learning innovations, and regulatory developments to continuously strengthen the compliance learning program.
 
Learning Design, Development & Delivery

  • Lead the design and development of instructor-led training, e-learning, microlearning, workshops, onboarding programs, manager resources, job aids, decision trees, and reference tools.
  • Apply adult-learning and instructional design principles to create engaging, and practical learning experiences.
  • Translate complex compliance requirements, policies, and business risks into clear and actionable learning content.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure learning materials are accurate, relevant, and aligned with business practices.
  • Manage the learning content lifecycle, including review, refresh, and retirement of learning materials.
  • Develop reusable assets and scalable approaches that improve the quality and efficiency of compliance learning.
 
Compliance Communications & Awareness

  • Lead global Corporate Compliance communications and awareness initiatives that reinforce key priorities and support a culture of integrity.
  • Develop compliance newsletters, awareness campaigns, Compliance Week initiatives, policy-launch communications, risk alerts, and leadership messaging.
  • Tailor messaging, channels, and timing to the needs of different audiences.
  • Partner with Corporate Communications and business stakeholders to coordinate messaging and extend its reach.
  • Maintain clear and consistent compliance branding, tone, and visual standards.
 
Learning Effectiveness, Analytics & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish methods for evaluating the reach and effectiveness of compliance learning and communications.
  • Define and monitor metrics related to completion, engagement, knowledge, learner feedback, and program outcomes.
  • Analyze assessment results, survey data, and other indicators to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide reporting and insights to Compliance leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Use data and learner feedback to improve content, delivery methods, communications, and reinforcement activities.
 
Content Development Center of Excellence

  • Serve as the U.S. Compliance team’s center of excellence for instructional design, learning content, and compliance communications.
  • Establish templates, standards, and best practices for training, presentations, communications, and awareness materials.
  • Provide guidance on content strategy, visual design, storytelling, accessibility, and learner engagement.
  • Develop reusable content assets and communication frameworks that improve consistency and efficiency.
  • Advise Compliance colleagues and subject matter experts on effective learning and content-development approaches.

Qualifications

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Relevant fields may include Learning and Development, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Communications, Education, Business, Human Resources, Compliance, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Typically 7-10 years of relevant experience in compliance learning, instructional design, learning and development, organizational development, corporate communications, compliance program management, or a related field.
  • Experience developing enterprise or global learning strategies and role-based curricula.
  • Experience designing learning across multiple formats and delivery channels.
  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional programs in a global or matrixed organization.
  • Experience measuring learning effectiveness and using data to improve programs.
  • Experience with learning-management systems, authoring tools, analytics tools, or comparable learning technologies.
  • Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, medical device, or other regulated-industry experience preferred.
  • Experience managing external vendors or content-development partners preferred.

The salary range for this position is: $132,800 to $182,600. BioMarin considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
