Job Description
The Senior Manager, Talent Management is a strategic leader responsible for defining and executing the talent management and learning & development (L&D) strategy to drive organizational growth, employee engagement, and leadership development. This role oversees key talent processes (e.g., performance management, succession planning, talent reviews, development programs), stewards the learning strategy, and ensures alignment between development initiatives and business objectives.
This is a remote role with a preference for candidates based in the Charlotte, NC or Philadelphia, PA areas, with the ability to work from a local office as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Management Strategy & Process
- Develop and lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of talent management programs (e.g., performance management, succession planning, high-potential identification, career frameworks).
- Facilitate regular talent review sessions with senior leadership to assess talent pipelines, identify gaps, and build development plans.
- Partner with business leaders and HR to integrate talent processes with business planning and workforce strategy.
Learning & Development Strategy
- Set the long-term L&D strategy in alignment with business goals, including leadership development, technical skills, and soft-skills training.
- Lead the creation and execution of learning initiatives (classroom, virtual, blended) that drive performance and engagement.
- Measure learning effectiveness and ROI via metrics (e.g., completion, behavioral change, business impact) and continuously iterate.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Design and lead engagement initiatives that tie into development opportunities (e.g., mentorship programs, peer learning).
- Monitor engagement metrics, feedback, and survey data to inform talent and learning interventions.
Leadership & Coaching
- Serve as a coach or mentor to leaders on talent strategy, performance conversations, and development.
- Build leadership development curricula for mid- and senior-level managers.
- Drive change management for new talent and learning programs.
Data, Analytics & Reporting
- Define key talent management and learning metrics (e.g., retention, successors, promotion rates, learning utilization) and track performance over time.
- Build dashboards and present insights to senior stakeholders.
- Use data to recommend improvements in talent processes and L&D interventions.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure talent processes and L&D programs align with internal policies and external regulatory requirements (where applicable).
- Manage budget for talent management and learning initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in HR, with significant experience in talent management, L&D, or organizational development. 3+ years in a leadership capacity.
- Proven experience designing and implementing talent management processes (e.g., succession planning, talent reviews).
- Deep knowledge of L&D practices, adult learning principles, and program measurement.
- Strong data and analytical skills; experience building dashboards and interpreting talent data.
- Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Project management skills: ability to lead large-scale talent and learning initiatives.
- Proficiency with HR technology (Workday and Skillsoft) is preferred.

Wage Range: The annual starting salary for this position is between $140,000-155,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
