What You’ll Do
The Sr. Product Manager is a strategic, individual contributor role within the NWEA division of HMH.
In this role, you will be responsible for driving the commercial success and performance of NWEA products throughout the product lifecycle, aligning with HMH’s broader strategy and mission. Key responsibilities include identifying customer needs, analyzing market trends, defining a three-year product vision, prioritizing product requirements, engaging with customers, and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver impactful business outcomes.
This position specifically oversees the Insights portfolio within MAP Suite, which includes all Insights Profiles, as well as premium reports and custom reporting functionality—critical components for meeting the needs of large-scale assessment customers.
Responsibilities
Strategy Development & Execution:
- Develop and execute the product strategy in alignment with the overall business goals.
- Manage products throughout the product life cycle from solution innovation, definition, release, and end-of-life planning.
- Assist in the development of project charters for product releases with prioritized features and corresponding business case justification including financial analysis.
Understand the Market Needs & Gather Feedback:
- Assess technology trends, and current and emerging competitors to inform product direction; utilize and gather market and industry research and analysis to inform a long-range product roadmap.
- Perform market needs analysis to better understand the problems and needs of potential and existing customers.
- Perform win/loss analysis and RFP reviews to identify product strengths and opportunities.
- Lead beta and pilot programs to gather early partner feedback and support a successful large-scale launch.
Responsible for Product Commercial Success:
- Develop clear and compelling investment business cases that support the product, division, and organization’s commercial goals.
- Define new revenue opportunities and monetization opportunities.
- Identify and facilitate business process changes to improve organizational and product line performance.
- Analyze product performance to make data-driven decisions to drive business growth and profitability.
Provide Cross Functional Collaboration & Communication:
- Nurtures robust relationships with stakeholders, serving as a vital connector between the product team, executives, customers and internal teams. Their role encompasses aligning the product vision, delivering progress updates, and effectively addressing concerns and feedback from all stakeholders.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of product value propositions, market requirements, and product goals.
- Collaborate with Product Marketing on go-to-market strategy and launch activities.
- Assist in the development of a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments and key stakeholders to execute.
- Work with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure products are meeting market needs, socialize product vision, strategy, and planning outcomes.
- Serve as product expert for internal and external stakeholders.
What You'll Need
- Minimum five years of experience in product management, product development, product marketing, business analysis, or related discipline, with at least one year in enterprise software product management.
- Experience applying Product Lifecycle Management processes such as product requirements definition, product business plan development, new product introduction, etc.
- Successful history of monetizing products and services.
- Demonstrated success in developing and launching complex technology products.
- Bachelor's degree in education, technical or business discipline; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- Experience implementing AI is a plus.
- MAP Growth expertise preferred.
- Domain knowledge and demonstrated understanding of assessments and the educational marketplace is a plus.

- Roadmaps
- High-level scope and requirements documents, user personas, and use cases.
- Concept proposals and corresponding business case analysis
- Maintain standard product-specific RFP Responses.
- Launching new and established software products and services
- Alpha and beta test plan development.
- Internal product guides.
- Establish and report on product KPI’s and metrics.
- Product demos.
- Sound business judgment and knowledge of financial issues impacting product profitability.
- Solid understanding of technology including business intelligence and analytics.
- Adept in professionally partnering with customers, colleagues, and industry experts to develop and maintain long-term supportive relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to operate and contribute at both a tactical and strategic level.
- Effective at gaining the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity.
- Clear, concise, and compelling communication style; adept at adjusting the communication to meet the needs of the audience.
- Ability to travel domestically as required, up to twenty-five percent.
Salary range: 89k – 125k.
