How can you make an impact?

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with a strong Data Engineering background to join our Higher Education technology team. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain scalable data systems and software solutions that power learning platforms, institutional analytics, and student success initiatives.

 

You'll work closely with data scientists, analysts, and product teams to ensure the availability and accuracy of data across the organization. This is a critical technical role that bridges data engineering and analytics, ensuring that our data infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and optimized for analytics and business intelligence.

 

This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.

 

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop robust, scalable data pipelines to support educational platforms and analytics products

What You Bring:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field preferred. Advanced degree is a plus.
    • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in data engineering
    • Experience designing and deploying event-driven / streaming data integration solutions at production scale
    • Hands-on expertise with Apache Kafka or comparable streaming platforms (e.g., AWS Kinesis, Apache Pulsar, Confluent Platform)
    • Proficiency in one or more mainstream programming languages: Java, Python, or Golang
    • Strong working knowledge of JSON Schema and event schema design, including versioning and compatibility strategies
    • Demonstrated track record taking streaming solutions from initial design through to production deployment, QA/testing, and operational monitoring
    • Experience with observability tooling — metrics, alerting, and logging for streaming pipelines (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)
    • Familiarity with cloud-native data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders
    • Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and security best practices.

The pay range for this position is between $124,000 - $155,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
