Snapshot of the Role:

We’re looking for a Senior iOS Engineer to help elevate the MasterClass experience across iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. In this role, you’ll lead the development of elegant, performant, and user-centric features that showcase our world-class content to millions of members. You’ll work cross-functionally with product, design, backend, and QA teams to build experiences that are seamless, polished, and aligned with our brand. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of iOS experience, are fluent in Swift, and bring a passion for beautiful code, clean architecture, and pushing what’s possible on Apple platforms. This role is based in Waterloo, Canada, with a remote-first approach and flexible in-office touchpoints.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience building and maintaining high-quality iOS apps, including iPhone and iPad.
  • Fluency in Swift. Experience with RxSwift/RxCocoa a plus.
  • Strong understanding of architecture patterns such as MVC, MVVM, or MVVM-C.
  • Hands-on or other reactive frameworks.
  • Experience integrating with RESTful APIs.
  • Familiarity with tvOS, Core Data, AVFoundation, CocoaPods and Swift Package Manager.
  • Passion for performance, animation, and delivering pixel-perfect UI.
  • Comfortable in a CI/CD environment with tools like Bitrise, Fastlane, or similar.
  • Bonus: experience with Ruby on Rails, AV frameworks, or video playback optimization.
  • A strong sense of ownership and accountability for delivering world-class user experiences.
  • An advocate for clean code, mentorship, and collaborative development culture.

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Design, develop, and ship high-impact features across our iOS and tvOS apps.
  • Own key parts of our mobile architecture and drive performance, modularity, and testability improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to scope features and surface edge cases, and ensure pixel-perfect design implementation.
  • Lead technical decisions for new features and app-wide improvements.
  • Write high-quality, well-documented code and unit tests.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous learning through mentorship, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay current with the latest Apple technologies and best practices, bringing forward ideas to keep our app best-in-class.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of iOS development experience in Swift.
  • Experience building consumer-facing mobile apps at scale. Have published at least 1 app on the AppStore.
  • Deep understanding of iOS frameworks, performance tuning, and Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines.
  • Experience working in an agile environment with product and design teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent industry experience).
  • A passion for education, creativity, and elevating user experiences.

The salary range listed is for candidates in Ontario, Canada. As a company, we have a location based strategy, which means the disclosed range estimate has been adjusted for geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled.

In addition to salary, we also offer equity and comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, flexible PTO, and more).
