How You'll Contribute to Our Mission
Frontline Education is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer and Team Lead who is passionate about building resilient, secure, and scalable systems that educators depend on every day. In this role, you will help ensure our applications are reliable, performant, and ready to support school districts across the country.
 
You will partner closely with Product Development and DevOps teams to design, deploy, and continuously improve cloud-based environments that power mission-critical solutions. Your work will directly impact the experience of educators and administrators by ensuring our systems are available, responsive, and secure when they need them most.
 
As a team leader, you will guide and support engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
 
How You'll Drive Success
• Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of Frontline production systems in a 24x7 SaaS environment
• Lead initiatives that improve operational efficiency, scalability, and system resilience
• Advance automation across deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management to reduce manual effort and increase visibility
• Strengthen cloud infrastructure practices across AWS services including compute, storage, networking, and monitoring
• Design and maintain secure, redundant systems that support disaster recovery and business continuity
• Diagnose complex, full-stack issues and lead root cause analysis with a preventative mindset
• Monitor and analyze system health metrics and translate insights into meaningful platform improvements
• Standardize best practices across engineering teams to elevate reliability and consistency
• Collaborate with support teams to create integrated workflows that improve issue resolution and customer experience
• Participate in and help lead a 24x7 on-call rotation with a focus on preparedness and continuous learning
• Mentor and guide onshore engineers and analysts, providing coaching, feedback, and professional development support
• Partner with engineering leadership to communicate team progress, challenges, and resource needs
 
What You Bring to Help Us Grow
• Several years of experience designing, supporting, and evolving custom web applications in a high-availability production environment
• Strong experience managing cloud infrastructure at scale, particularly within AWS environments
• Deep familiarity with infrastructure as code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Chef, Ansible, or similar technologies
• Experience deploying and operating containerized workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, or comparable platforms
• Background in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering practices within a SaaS organization
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, Go, Ruby, or similar
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as ELK, Dynatrace, New Relic, or related platforms
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern build and deployment tooling
• Experience supporting Windows-based web environments including IIS, along with familiarity across Linux systems
• Understanding of distributed application architecture including caching, load balancing, and high-availability design
• A bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 and commensurate with your experience, skills, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, you will be eligible for performance-based incentives aligned to individual, team, and company results.
