The Role
As an SSAT/ISEE Tutor at Crimson, you will work with ambitious students across the US, Asia, Australia, and Europe who are preparing for admission to competitive US boarding and day schools. Your work will be central to their applications.
Core responsibilities
  • Delivering high-quality, exam-focused 1:1 tutoring sessions on a frequent, weekly basis.
  • Preparing students for the SSAT and/or ISEE through structured, curriculum-led instruction and targeted practice.
  • Strengthening foundational skills in verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, reading comprehension, and writing as needed. Applicants must also be extremely comfortable covering Math (quantitative skills).
  • Advising students on the broader boarding and day school admissions context — how scores are evaluated, what schools are looking for, and how to approach the process strategically.
  • Maintaining clear, timely communication with students and families outside of formal sessions.

Who We’re Looking For
  • Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree from a top 30 U.S. university or global equivalent. Current master's students are encouraged to apply, with a strong preference for Ivy League or top 20 university alumni.
  • Must have extensive 1:1 tutoring experience in SSAT and/or ISEE — both strongly preferred.
  • Deep familiarity with the US boarding and day school admissions landscape, including how these exams are used, what schools expect, and how to position students competitively.
  • At least 10 hours of availability to tutor each week.
  • Experience working with students aged 11–14, with flexibility to work with younger students where needed.
  • A genuine passion for education and teaching — ideally with a track record of measurable student improvement.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills — engaging, enthusiastic, and approachable.

Time Commitment
  • Approximately 5-10 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.
  • You choose which students to work with.
  • Students tend to meet with tutors 2x per week.

Compensation
Compensation reflects your professional background, expertise, and educational experience. You are paid for live session time, which includes the session itself plus preparation, session summary, and any follow-up research.
