Staff DevOps Engineer Full Description

We're looking for a Staff DevOps Engineer with deep AWS expertise to lead the design, automation, and security of our cloud infrastructure. You’ll drive cross-account AWS management, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), container orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines, while ensuring performance, scalability, and compliance across environments. This is a high-impact role where you’ll collaborate cross-functionally, mentor engineers, and shape the future of our platform.
 
The impact you'll have:

  • Design and manage multi-account AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, RDS, ECS, IAM, CloudFormation).
  • Automate provisioning and operations using Terraform and Python.
  • Lead containerized deployments with Docker, ECS, and ECR.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodeBuild and GitHub Actions.
  • Manage identity and access (IAM policies, SSO with OneLogin), certificate lifecycles, and security tools like GuardDuty and SecurityHub.
  • Oversee storage and database systems (PostgreSQL, RDS, S3) with backup and recovery strategies.
  • Configure DNS (Route 53), load balancers, and cloud monitoring (CloudWatch, Pingdom).
  • Collaborate across teams to support development velocity while enforcing infrastructure and security standards.

Bonus Experience:

  • Leading or mentoring engineers and helping set infrastructure direction.
  • Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure, including LLMs, RAG pipelines, or vector databases.
  • Experience with multi-cloud or SaaS integrations (Azure, GCP, Jira, Slack, etc.).
 
What you'll bring:

  • 7+ years in DevOps, SRE, or cloud engineering roles.
  • Deep experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
  • Practical knowledge of CI/CD, containerization, and cloud security.
  • Strong Python scripting and GitHub workflow management.
  • A mindset for automation, security, and scale.

U.S. Pay Range
$130,000—$160,000 USD

SchoolStatus intends to offer the selected candidate base pay dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, such as experience.
