Udemy is a global company headquartered in San Francisco, with additional U.S. offices in Denver and Austin, and international hubs in Australia, India, Ireland, Mexico, and Türkiye.
This is an in-office position, requiring three days a week in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.

We expect you to have expertise in ReactJS, Typescript, GraphQL, CSS, MobX (or similar libraries), NextJS (or similar framework), Webpack, NPM, DataDog (or similar tools), accessibility best practices and measuring web performance . We expect proficiency in analytical problem solving, cross-functional communication, and systems thinking. Our ideal candidate will be comfortable designing and leading very complex problems, including navigating projects with ambiguous parameters across teams.

As a staff engineer within the portfolio, you will be leading a team to help our learners onboard onto our platform, identify their learning goals, find the right learning content for them, and enhance their skills. We do this by leveraging our platform from recommendations, skills guidance, and GenAI, to name a few. You would be instrumental in driving experiences that enable learners to achieve their goals and improve their lives through learning.
What you'll be doing
- Implementing product features using your expert skills in ReactJS, Typescript, GraphQL, CSS, MobX (or similar libraries), NextJS (or similar framework), Webpack, NPM, DataDog (or similar tools), accessibility best practices and measuring web performance to meet our team's objectives in service of our users.
- Applying exceptional analytical problem solving, cross-functional communication, and systems thinking to ensure smooth execution of product features in your team and with other teams in service of our users.
- Leading the optimization of code and processes to help your team achieve their goals.
- Designing, leading, coordinating, executing, and delivering very complex projects with quality and at scale across your pod and others.
- Identifying, managing and executing solutions for complexity across teams.
- Creating and leveraging dashboards to ensure quality of our experiences, our experiences are solving business problems, and our experiences are meeting our user’s needs.
What you’ll have

Actual compensation for this role is based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, and specific work location due to differences in the cost of labor. In addition to a base salary, this role is also eligible for equity.
Hiring Compensation Range
$157,000—$196,000 USD
