About Core Infrastructure Team
- The Infra team at Eightfold is responsible for building, maintaining and enhancing the very core parts of our stack - everything from Search, Databases, Machine Learning Infrastructure, Data Warehouse, Developer Platform, and Application Infrastructure.
- This Infrastructure is used by every team and powers every single product at Eightfold. Behind everything our Users and customers see - is the architecture built by the Core Infrastructure team to keep it running.
What you will do (or learn to do)
- Being in a Staff level role, you will be responsible for the architecture, design, code, and delivery of multiple highly scalable systems
- Mentor/coach other engineers to help them perform at their best by performing code/design reviews, and providing all the technical directions.
- Being hands-on and curious about the technology, get into the ground-level technical details/depth whenever required.
- Work with other engineering teams & cross-functional teams to address all the technical dependencies.
- Actively participate in interviewing & hiring the top talent.
- Innovate and suggest industry best practices, and participate in internal/external technical presentations.
- Architect, design, develop, maintain, and support distributed systems in Eightfold’s core infrastructure.
- Build out large-scale software platforms that are used by millions of users that process huge terabytes of data.
- Build out microservices using frameworks such as Docker and Kubernetes to power all our products.
- Build distributed Microservice-based architectures to maximize system extensibility, scalability, and availability.
- Support the deployment and operations of our products across multiple environments.
- Deliver high-performance, reliable, and scalable products leveraging best-of-breed technology.
- We support customers all over the world, including governments and enterprises, and help them meet strict security standards.
- Diagnose problems that can arise in a complex distributed environment.
- Design and implement data structures, algorithms, and artificial intelligence models to improve overall system performance.
What you bring
- Strong CS fundamentals with an excellent track record of architecting, designing, developing, and delivering highly scalable systems.
- Passionate about coding and designing,
- Passionate about building high-quality software that is secure, scalable and highly available
- Expertise in building distributed systems at cloud scale
- Familiarity with SaaS environments (AWS or Azure or GCP)
- Expertise in backend software development.
- Strong Coding, Data Structures, Algorithms, and Problem-Solving skills.
- You can design large-scale distributed systems
- Strong problem-solving, and data analysis skills.
- Experience in technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- Familiarity with CloudOps and SRE principles. We are tools-agnostic and often build our own, or extend existing tools and services.
- Bonus points for strength in any of these areas: Database, Data Warehouse, Application infrastructure, Search infrastructure, Security, Big data systems etc.
- Excellent communication skills with a can-do attitude and is a self-starter.
- Natural leadership abilities and can mentor and train others.
- BS or MS or PhD is preferred or equiv relevant experience.
Pay Transparency
Please note this role is in Santa Clara, CA and is categorized as an onsite position.
The base salary ranges below are provided for pay transparency. Base pay is only one piece of our total compensation package as this role may be eligible for [bonuses or commissions], and equity awards. Compensation varies depending on a number of factors including qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and location. Zones are determined by location.
Zone A Range: $198,000 USD - $233,000 USD base salary plus annual bonus
