Job Description

The Student Affairs Program Support & Fiscal Specialist plays a key administrative role within the Office of Student Affairs at VTCSOM. This position manages financial transactions, budgeting, procurement, and payroll for student programs while ensuring compliance with institutional policies. It also supports the Medical Student Performance and Promotion Committee, Honor Board, and provides administrative assistance to student affairs leadership. In addition, the specialist contributes to student engagement by assisting with major events, coordinating logistics, facilitating communications, and supporting departmental initiatives. This role is integral to enhancing the student experience and maintaining the efficient operation of student affairs services. This position requires some after-hours work for departmental ceremonies. This position will have a primary report to the Assistant Dean for Student Vitality & Career Development, with a secondary report to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs.

Required Qualifications

Significant experience in finance and/or administration roles.
Experience with event planning.
Work experience in Student or Academic Affairs
Proficient in Canvas or similar educational systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel, or other office software programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Education, Human Relations, Finance, or related field.
Experience with fiscal reporting systems, including HokieMart and ChromeRiver, or similar software.
