Job Summary | University of Kentucky Internal Audit (UKIA) assists the University management, administration and the Board of Trustees in the effective discharge of their fiduciary and administrative responsibilities by providing independent, objective assurance and consulting services with respect to evaluating risk management, internal controls, and governance processes.
The Internal Audit office is currently seeking student audit assistants to work with the UKIA team in completing audit projects and supporting office infrastructure for both Summer and Fall 2026. Positions pay $16 – $20 per hour for 10 to 12 hours per week. Work location is at UKIA’s main office (1648 McGrathiana Parkway) or UKIA satellite office in the Patterson Office Tower.
Multiple positions are available across different UKIA service lines including accountability, office administration and finance, communications, consultations, healthcare auditing, IT auditing, and investigations. More information about each of these can be found in the document linked
here. Specifics of duties for each position will be discussed in interviews; dependent on position/team, student responsibilities may include:
Project planning research and support Document and record organization, review, and analysis Data entry, calculations, mapping and analysis Budget and expense management and tracking support Meeting and event planning support Memo, report and presentation drafting Client satisfaction survey preparation, distribution and analysis support Interview preparation, participation and notation Project research and audit fieldwork Policy, regulation and risk identification research Successful applicants will be current or rising sophomores, juniors, seniors or graduate students. Students of all academic backgrounds are welcome to apply. Successful applicants will possess excellent writing and communication skills, superior attention to detail, and keen observational and critical thinking skills. Prior experience in internal auditing is not expected or required, but successful applicants will be curious about our work, willing to learn and open to instruction and feedback. They will be able to work on a team but will also be self-motivated and able to work independently. Professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality are key; student audit assistants will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
