| Job Description Summary | The Student Graphic Designer position within Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences provides an opportunity for students to apply and further develop their creative and technical design skills in a professional setting. Under the direction of the Events and Development Coordinator, the Student Graphic Designer will create and develop visual materials in support of the College’s marketing, communications, events, and outreach efforts. The Student Graphic Designer will work collaboratively with the Wilkinson Dean’s Office Graphic Design team to develop visually engaging materials that are consistent with Wilkinson College and Chapman University brand standards. Projects may include promotional materials for college-wide events and initiatives, including the Engaging the World series, as well as publications such as the College’s annual report and other print and digital communications. This position is designed to provide students with hands-on professional experience while further developing their design, production, and project-management skills. Student designers will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects that can contribute to a robust professional portfolio. The ideal candidate will be enrolled in the Art Department’s Design program and have an interest in further developing their skills in graphic design and production, particularly using Adobe InDesign and other Adobe Creative Cloud applications. Freshman and sophomore Design students are especially encouraged to apply, as this position provides an opportunity to be mentored by experienced junior- and senior-level student designers currently working with the Dean’s Office. The ideal candidate will demonstrate creativity, attention to detail, a willingness to learn, the ability to receive and incorporate feedback, and an interest in working collaboratively as part of a professional design team. Application Requirements Applicants should submit a résumé and 3–5 samples of their design work with their application. A formal portfolio is not required. Work samples may include projects completed for classes, student organizations, personal projects, or other creative work that demonstrates the applicant’s design skills and interests.
