Job Summary | The Office of Student Organizations and Activities (SOA) is committed to a mission of inspiring students to explore the opportunities at UK through the building of skills, relationships, experiences, and interests to make a real world impact.
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Student Organization Advisor to join our team and work with student leaders facilitating innovative programs and resources. This role works closely with students on a day-to-day basis supporting their leadership development and growth in their role, helping them navigate processes and procedures, and providing opportunities for them to support the broader University of Kentucky community. The Senior Specialist for Student Government position portfolio currently includes, but is not limited to:
· Co-advising and supporting the Student Government Association (SGA) through the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches· Co-advising and supporting the Graduate Student Congress (GSC) through the executive team and additional organizational structures· Directly advising and supporting students in programs, events, and service delivery for many campus constituents and student advocacy.· Advisory facilitation and oversight of daily operations of SGA, GSC, and other sponsored student organizations, including but not limited to:o Financial administration of primary student fee fundso Event planning details and logisticso Ensuring the organization is meeting compliance standards when executing processes and procedures as laid out in SGA codes, constitution, University policy and procedure, Kentucky state law, and federal law.o Creating, delivering, and overseeing the execution of leadership and professional development trainingso Working knowledge of SGA and/or sponsored student organization: governing codes, constitutions, applicable UK Administrative Regulations and Governing Regulations, Roberts Rules of Order, and all applicable Kentucky and federal laws and federal law and processes in order to help support SGA and other sponsored student organizations student leaders in navigating these policies and procedures as they relate to University of Kentucky and University of Kentucky shared governance.· Overseeing, managing, and supporting the execution honors and awards processes in the fall and spring semester, including for the Lead Blue ceremony.· Be a proactive team member within the Office of Student Organizations and Activities by supporting operations around projects such as but not limited to:o SOA Summito SOA Workshopso Lead Blue Ceremonyo SOA Committeeso SOA Programming and Large Eventso Volunteering with collaborative campus partners· Coordinate and deliver student leadership recognition, training, and development programs including workshops, campus wide events and state-wide initiatives.· Create and maintain campus partnerships and collaborations.· Implementation of assessment strategies for SGA, GSC, sponsored student organizations and SOA programs to inform program and service delivery efforts institutionally.· Leadership education support for registered student organizations and student engagement are key elements of student development and are consistent with the unit, divisional, and university strategic plans.
Due to the nature of the work associated with this role, occasional night and weekend coverage may be necessary.

From a student-centered framework, our practice will be grounded in peer-reviewed literature, national best practices, and data-informed decision-making. Collaborating with the campus and community, Student Success will work through a holistic lens to support a community of learners in achieving success.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | Student personnel programming; knowledge of student development theory/applications; student advisement in a co-curricular collegiate setting.

Preferred Education/Experience | Masters in Higher Education Administration/College Student Personnel or related field with 1-3 years related experience in student personnel/student affairs working with student governance, leadership development, and student programming. Qualifying equivalency of Bachelors degree and 3 years related student service and/or customer service experience is considered.
Driver’s license preferred.
