Job Description 
Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Position Summary
The Student Resources Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for students in need of support services. This position manages a caseload of students identified through the Single Stop screener and other referral sources as requiring additional assistance. The Specialist plays a critical role in student retention by supporting and coaching students, particularly those from underrepresented populations, achieving their academic and professional goals through self-discovery, intrusive advising, and proactive guidance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the primary case manager for students identified as needing support services through Single Stop and other referral pathways. Screen students for eligibility for federal, state, local, nonprofit, and institutional benefits and resources. Assist students throughout the application process for benefits, including follow-up and documentation support. Provide intrusive advising and coaching to support student persistence, retention, and goal attainment. Maintain accurate and timely student records, case notes, and outcomes documentation. Develop and deliver workshops, presentations, and outreach activities related to student resources and support services. Collaborate with campus partners and community agencies to expand access to student resources. Travel locally to shop for campus food pantries and maintain detailed financial and inventory records. Travel regionally, as needed, to meet with community partners and resource providers. Participate in outreach initiatives to increase awareness and utilization of student support services. Perform other duties as assigned in support of Student Affairs and institutional retention efforts.

Special Assignments  | May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications  | Student Support & Advising Experience
Demonstrated experience providing academic, career, or case management support to students, evidenced by job duties listed on the resume.

Experience screening individuals for eligibility and/or connecting clients or students to federal, state, local, nonprofit, or institutional resources.
Communication Skills Demonstrated experience producing written materials such as letters, reports, presentations, outreach materials, or workshop content. Demonstrated experience with oral presentations, workshops, or group facilitation.

Organizational & Case Management Skills

Additional Considerations  | Higher Education Experience
Two (2) or more years of experience in higher education, student affairs, retention, advising, or college access programs.
