Job Description
The Student Services Specialist is a professional who will actively pursue the development of a holistic advising relationship in order to facilitate the success, retention, and continued progression of each student admitted into the College of Liberal Arts. The Student Services Specialist must be able to identify and recognize student’s goals, needs, fears, anxieties and have knowledge of all campus resources available to support student success.
Problems faced in this position are highly varied, complex, and often non-recurring, which may require novel and creative approaches to resolution. Job responsibilities require the ability to develop and evaluate alternatives for possible courses of action. Work is performed within guidelines and established standards.


• Takes personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work
• Develops strong relationships through a variety of means (including in-person and remote engagement)
• Utilizes effective time management, customer service, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
• Successfully resolves student issues from request through resolution
• Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing

• Gathers data, compiles information, and prepares reports
