Job Description
Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Student Services Specialist serves as a primary point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and the public while providing administrative and technical support to the Office of the Registrar. This position performs a variety of customer service, records management, and data-related functions requiring the use of multiple technology platforms and systems. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical proficiency, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to learn and navigate complex student information systems and college technologies.
The Student Services Specialist supports the daily operations of the Registrar’s Office by assisting with student records processes, electronic forms, document management, website updates, data tracking, and communication management. The position requires a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Special Assignments | May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications | Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service in a high-volume office environment. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, Teams and Google Workspace applications, including Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Forms. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to research, interpret, and communicate college policies, procedures, and academic regulations. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive student information. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
Additional Considerations | Experience working in higher education, student services, records management, or a related administrative environment. Experience using PeopleSoft, Student Information Systems (SIS), or other enterprise database systems. Experience maintaining spreadsheets, reports, dashboards, or data tracking systems. Experience supporting electronic forms, workflow systems, or website content management. Associate degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
