Department Summary
The University of North Texas at Dallas launched the Center for Socioeconomic Mobility through Education (CSME) in 2022. The CSME’s purpose is to accelerate socioeconomic mobility by advancing well-being, wisdom, and wealth through individual and collective learning in southern Dallas County. Housed within the Academic Affairs Division, the primary focus is on serving UNT Dallas students; the Center also collaborates with partners to improve outcomes in our region.

Position Overview
The Student Success Coach plays a pivotal role in supporting undergraduate students by fostering academic achievement, personal development, and retention. Each Student Success Coach will focus on either first-time-in-college or transfer students. Using a holistic approach, the coach provides proactive, individualized support and serves as a connector between students and key campus resources. The goal is to empower students to navigate the university environment effectively, persist through challenges, and thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related field and three years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Relationship-Building: Able to establish trust, provide encouragement, and hold students accountable to their goals.Collaboration: Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and engaging with faculty and staff across campus.Adaptability: Able to respond to shifting student needs, institutional priorities, and coaching strategies.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or related discipline.Experience using student success platforms (e.g., Navigate).Familiarity with challenges faced by first-generation and transfer students.Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Job Duties:
Student Coaching and Advising · Provide proactive, one-on-one coaching to an assigned caseload of students with regular check-ins and goal tracking. · Guide students in setting academic, personal, and professional goals and developing action plans to achieve them. · Offer support in time management, study skills, power skills, life skills, course planning, and academic recovery strategies. · Help students interpret institutional policies and navigate key processes (e.g., registration, academic probation, financial aid questions).Outreach & Retention · Utilize early alert and CRM systems (e.g., EAB Navigate) to monitor student progress and follow up on flags or risk indicators. · Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and campus partners to coordinate wraparound support for at-risk students.Campus Resource Navigation · Serve as a knowledgeable resource to help students connect with academic support, mental health counseling, career services, and engagement opportunities.Data & Continuous Improvement · Contribute to assessment efforts by tracking progress, reporting trends, and analyzing coaching effectiveness.Pre-College Programming & Pre-Enrollment Activities · Support summer camp pre-college programming and pre-enrollment activities.
