Job Description
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Academic Engagement, the Student Success Navigator plays a crucial role in supporting students as they navigate and complete a post-secondary degree. By providing personalized support, academic and financial intervention, developing retention strategies, and fostering a supportive campus community, student success navigators contribute to the success and well-being of students at Texas State. The applicant will also contribute to Texas State’s Student Success initiatives; and assist in establishing and enhancing relationships with other university support services and programs.
Job Duties
Student Support:
  • Serve as a primary liaison between students and campus partners to resolve challenges, holds, and remove barriers for students to persistence and be retain at the university.
  • Connect and assist students with academic advisors, housing, and student services to ensure students receive comprehensive academic and social support.
  • Engage with students during pre-enrollment activities, including New Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration programs.
  • Develop and execute a an outreach plan to maintain engagement with assigned student/cohorts.
Academic Success Intervention:
  • Facilitate and implement holistic intervention plans for assigned student/cohorts.
  • Manage TXST Early Alerts and Student Hand Raises, providing intentional support and connecting students to resources as needed.
  • Guide students through the Bobcats Bounce Back academic recovery process to promote retention and success.
  • Coordinate and implement special projects aligned with the University’s and divisional strategic priorities to enhance academic success.
  • Maintain accurate records and data tracking for student progress and interventions in Navigate or other university systems.
Financial Literacy Programming:
  • Assist with financial education and support initiatives, to include help students develop financial literacy.
  • Educate students on different payment options and financial resources to attend college.
  • Facilitate strategies to maintain financial stability like personal budgets and resources during financial emergencies.
Departmental and Divisional Responsibilities:
  • Assess institutional data and make recommendations to improve academic engagement and student success.
  • Participate in departmental/ divisional committee(s) and teams when required.
  • Support Academic Engagement and Divisional events during evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned
