Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides project management and analysis skills to multiple system development and implementation projects.
  • Follows standards, policies, and procedures ofthe University and ITS division to meet project goals and objectives. Helps to evaluate current standards and develop new ones.
  • Ensures the proper functioning of designated University administrative and departmental systems by planning, coordinating, and implementing necessary upgrades.
  • Takes a leading role in evaluating the needs of the University’s academic and administrative units and developing and implementing new information systems and services.
  • Assists clients in understanding and utilizing our information systems to improve their efficiency and provide improved services.
  • Works with developers (or code software, depending on skills and complexity) and other ITS colleagues to meet the technical needs for assigned projects, consistent with division and department standards for technology and systems.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to Loyola’s mission and vision by supporting ITS core values of service excellence for university strategic initiatives and continuous development/improvement.
  • Proactively manages change through existing change management processes.
  • Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technologies.
  • Equivalent experience with at least 4 years of experience in the field or related experience. Higher education experience is a plus.
Qualifications
The Student System Team at Loyola University Chicago is seeking a Student Systems Analyst II.
This position will be part of a team that supports the overall development, operational processes, and maintenance of the student information system at Loyola. The successful candidate will excel in skills such as development, implementation of ERP applications, customer service, attention to detail, technical integration based knowledge good and project management.

General Responsibilities:
  • Tactical and Operational Planning: Contribute to short-term and long-term IT strategy by offering expertise that supports the organization’s business goals and objectives.
  • Technical Expertise: Conduct in-depth analyses of performance, systems architecture, and data trends to support decision-making processes. Develop solutions that align with the university’s academic, administrative, and research needs.
  • Innovation and Emerging Technologies: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies. Assist in evaluating their potential impact on the organization and recommending strategic investments.

Budgeting and Cost Control:
  • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to influence budget allocations for projects and upgrades. Evaluate vendor proposals to ensure cost-effective solutions that meet institutional goals.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure the organization’s IT systems comply with relevant regulations and standards, managing risks associated with technology use.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Establish and maintain relationships within IT and campus partners to ensure delivery of quality services.

Position Specific Responsibilities:
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, including core development items (Application Designer, PeopleCode, SQR, BI Publisher, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of relational database concepts and tools, including SQL and SQL developer tools.
  • Thorough understanding of the system development life cycle.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related fields is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive IT experience.
  • Technical proficiency in a wide range of IT systems, software, and hardware.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to implement strategic IT plans that align with organizational goals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex IT issues.
  • Experience with large-scale IT projects from conception to completion.
Certificates/Credentials/Licenses
  • CBAP
  • ITIL
  • PMP not required, but a plus.
Computer Skills
Familiarity with relational database concepts and tools including SQL and SQL developer tools. Experience with web application and client/server application concepts including web server/application server architecture and HTML/XML.
Knowledge of project management principles – ability to understand and apply concepts such as resource utilization, work effort, percent to complete and project health.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Knows how to implement API solutions both from within PeopleSoft and outside of the PeopleSoft ERP.
