Systems Administrator
Wolfram, creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha and Wolfram Language, has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Administrator. The company is looking for an energetic, motivated individual with strong interpersonal and communications skills to work on a wide variety of issues while maintaining server infrastructure. Responsibilities
- Managing day-to-day tasks, including the documentation of projects
- Maintaining, patching, troubleshooting and administrating production Linux/Mac/Windows-based servers running a variety of different software applications
- Implementing new technologies to help streamline internal operations
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule as necessary, including being on call and after hours
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Linux operating systems with a focus on RHEL-based distributions, such as Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, Fedora, CentOS Stream, etc.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, technologies and principles
- Familiarity with various scripting languages, such as Bash, Python, PowerShell, Perl, etc.
- Strong understanding of virtual machine environments and hypervisors
- Working knowledge of services that provide identity management and configuration management, such as Puppet, Ansible, Active Directory and LDAP
- Proficiency in version control systems such as Git, Bitbucket and CVS
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking and documentation skills
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
Preferred qualifications
- Three to five years of experience in Systems Administration
- Demonstrable ability to build production-focused services
- Familiarity with containerization (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker/Podman)
- Awareness of concepts such as NAS, OOBM, MFA, VPN, etc.
- Familiarity with enterprise hardware and data center environments
- Enthusiasm for experimenting with unique projects (e.g. homelab, Raspberry Pi, ESXi, Proxmox, etc.)

Reporting to: Manager of Systems Administration
Salary (for eligible candidates residing in the United States): For candidates based in the United States, the salary for this position is expected to be between $55,000 and $75,000 per year.
