Job Summary The Systems Administrator position in Information Technology is responsible for coordinating the technology operations that include identification card systems, access systems, security systems, meal plan systems, campus laundry systems, student print control systems and other POS systems. In addition to the following:
1. Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
2. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware (virtual and onsite), server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups and data exchanges.
3. Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
4. Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
5. Provide support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
6. Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
7. Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
8. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
9. Position is on call 24 × 7.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications 1. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology related field, such as CS, IS, or MIS, OR a minimum of 3 years of related work experience
2. Helpdesk or customer service experience
3. Experience working with and providing support to end-users
4. Technical experience with configuring and supporting end-user email software, including mobile devices
5. Experience troubleshooting complex technical issues and working with professional support engineers
Preferred Qualifications 1. Experience working in a helpdesk environment
2. Experience with Blackboard Transact or other POS systems
Will this position require driving (personal vehicle, university vehicle, utility vehicle, or golf cart) in order to perform the job duties? Driving may be necessary but is not a primary responsibility
Work Hours - Standard office hours
- Some flexibility in work schedule is required, including occasional work during evenings and weekends
