Systems Administrator (Applications)

This position will require you to be in the Greater Cleveland, OH area
We are presently in a hybrid schedule, 2 days on campus and 3 days WFH


The Systems Administrator (Applications) is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and the administration of various self-hosted applications owned by OverDrive IT. This position will provide dedicated resources to the upkeep of essential applications that both technical and non-technical teams at OverDrive are dependent upon. This individual ensures that supported applications and related procedures adhere to IT Standards as set within the team. This role supports multiple applications under the IT Department’s ownership.
  
Responsibilities: 
  • Coordinate with vendor and other support teams to ensure all supported applications are updated and patched regularly, maintaining compliance and adherence to best practices.
  • Administrate appropriate levels of access to applications based upon properly defined roles and business requirements.
  • Govern production readiness process to ensure that identified applications are properly monitored, backed up and covered by proper support documentation.
  • Create and maintain documentation for applications and other technology solutions within the environment in accordance with Governance and Compliance policies.
  • Participate in off-hours maintenance activities to support OverDrive’s application environments.
  • Follow change control policies and procedures and support the practice of continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with application stakeholders to ensure any application maintenance is performed in a non-disruptive manner.
  • Assist in maintaining enterprise services, such as Active Directory.
  • Ability to work in an interrupt-based work environment with changing deadlines, conflicting priorities, and users of all levels of technical skill.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements: 
  • Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 1 - 4 years of experience with systems and processes.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Experience working with both Windows and Linux server operating systems.
  • Understanding of RBAC and providing varying levels of access to applications and systems.
  • Ability to assist with maintenance and setup of servers, systems and portals.
  • Basic understanding of the application and the use of LAN, WAN, TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory and other network topologies and technology infrastructures.
