Department Summary
Classroom Technologies (formerly DSI Tech) supports UNT's Classrooms as well as distance education across the UNT Enterprise (Fort Worth, Dallas and System) with an expertise in AV, IT and Soft Codecs.

Position Overview
This position is responsible for ownership of day today technical management including the designing, procuring, installing and maintaining of all components (digital, communications and other) in setting up large, complex buildings and rooms within the university. This position ensures the system and component specific choices meet the scalability and operational effectiveness needs of UNT.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related scientific or technical discipline and four years of related experience or any combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department.
  • Considerable knowledge of principles of computing and/or communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environments.
  • Ability to operate computer keyboards and to install computer hardware.
  • Ability to assimilate, retain and utilize technical and applications-oriented information.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in related field and three years of related Integrated Systems experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Job Duties
  • Provide AV system designer services based upon DSI Tech and AV industry standards. Prepare the necessary documents that meet the requirements, procure appropriate technology that meet the requirements and provide resources for training end users.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the various system environments that can meet a variety of outcomes and project needs.
  • Work directly with clients to assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant internal stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility. Translate and execute requests into actionable estimates and quotes. Provide subject guidance to client for successfully navigating the procurement process utilizing internal and external resources. Must have familiarity with State and University standards for, funding, budget types, contracts, preferred vendors, appropriate use, and asset management.
  • Provide innovative solutions that continue to address opportunities that improve upon daily operations. Ensure that recommendations are addressing current system performance gaps with future system designs and industry standards.
  • Own the DSI Tech project management process including inception, coordination, and completion of project to scope. Collaborate with DSI Tech leadership to ensure that the processes align with Texas Administrative Code (TAC) 216, IT System partners, Campus partners, and IT governance. Ensure reporting meets the expectations of IT Governance and Cabinet.
  • Awareness and attention to current UNT AV and IT standards as it relates to system maintenance and integration.
  • Working knowledge of DSI Tech's scope of services: learning spaces technology, cloud conferencing, etc. Ability to maintain and implement an intake process to verify when an incident or project is within department scope.
  • Familiarity with common UNT procedures including, but not limited to: Work Control requests, UNT Police Department requests, federated IT groups requests.
  • Working knowledge of the department's digital tools including, but not limited to: Work Order (WO), Room Monitor (RM), Microsoft Office Solutions, IT Incident reporting tools, Project Management tools.
