Job Description | General Description:
This position provides services to internal and external constituents of Northern Virginia Community College with targeted support for the promotion, coordination, and delivery of Career Services resources, programs, and initiatives. The role supports student career development and employer engagement efforts through the management of career services technologies, strategic communications, marketing, and outreach activities.
*This position is eligible for telework after completion of state one-year probationary period.*
General Duties:Coordinate the implementation, management, and maintenance of the Career Services Management System, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of records, resources, data, and system activity. Promote Career Services programs, events, resources, and services through strategic outreach, marketing, and communication efforts to students, faculty, staff, and employer partners. Manage and maintain Career Services social media platforms, including Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, while creating and distributing the monthly Career Services newsletter and other promotional materials. Develop and disseminate marketing materials, promotional videos, website content, email communications, and event information through College media outlets and campus communication channels. Provide accurate and timely information regarding career events, programs, and Career Services resources to students, faculty, and staff. Host and facilitate information sessions, presentations, and workshops while responding professionally to general inquiries, emails, phone calls, and other communications. Coordinate and support special projects, grants, departmental initiatives, and additional assignments that align with College priorities and student success goals. The position also supports presentations, workshops, special projects, and departmental initiatives designed to enhance student success, career readiness, and stakeholder engagement while advancing the mission and strategic goals of the College.
Special Assignments | May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications | KSAs: Ability to coordinate the management, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Career Services Management System, ensuring accuracy, functionality, and effective user support for students, faculty, and staff. Ability to implement and utilize marketing and communication tools, including Career Services Management Systems, email campaigns, social media platforms, and digital engagement strategies, to promote Career Services programs, events, and resources. Ability to create, develop, and disseminate marketing and communication materials, including newsletters, brochures, presentations, website content, emails, social media content, and promotional videos using multiple platforms and technologies. Ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with students, faculty, staff, community organizations, and employer partners throughout the Northern Virginia region. Skilled in oral and written communication, including facilitating small and large group presentations, workshops, and information sessions. Ability to provide accurate, timely, and professional customer service while responding to inquiries and communicating information to diverse constituent groups. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and meet the diverse needs of students, faculty, staff, and employer stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple priorities, and contribute effectively in team settings. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Work Experience: Experience coordinating projects, programs, events, or communications initiatives. Experience utilizing career services management Systems, customer relationship management platforms, or similar database systems, including system management, troubleshooting, and maintaining accurate records and data. Experience in developing and implementing marketing and outreach materials, including email campaigns, newsletters, website content, social media management, and digital communications. Experience in photography, video creation, and video editing for marketing, promotional, and engagement purposes. Experience working with different stakeholders.
