Build What Matters in Research Computing
The University of Kentucky is seeking a
Systems Professional II to join our Research Enablement & Outreach team within IT Services. Effective 7/1/2026, this position will report through the Information Technology Services department in Beyond Blue.
This role sits at the intersection of cutting-edge research and advanced technology, supporting cyberinfrastructure that powers discovery across disciplines.You’ll contribute to the design, implementation, and support of high-performance computing (HPC), storage systems, and research platforms that enable faculty and researchers to solve complex, real-world problems.
What You’ll Do Build, configure, and support cyberinfrastructure (CI) systems at scale, including Linux clusters and storage environments Monitor, maintain, and optimize system performance, health, and reliability Design and implement secure, scalable IT solutions for research initiatives Collaborate with researchers, IT partners, and vendors to support evolving needs Contribute to documentation, best practices, and knowledge sharing Serve as a trusted technical partner in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment
What You’ll Bring Experience with Linux system administration (installation, patching, performance monitoring) Knowledge of cyberinfrastructure systems (HPC clusters, storage, virtualization, networks) Ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex projects Strong communication skills and a service-oriented mindset Interest in supporting research-driven technology solutions
Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree 1+ year of relevant experience
