Illinois State University is hiring a Teacher Aide to support classroom teachers in the 2nd and 3rd grade at Thomas Metcalf School. The role involves assisting with teaching duties, student management, supervision at various times, and administrative tasks using technology tools, while meeting students' emotional and hygienic needs.
Highlights
Assist classroom teachers with instruction, assessment, and paperwork in 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms.
Supervise students before/after school, during lunch, recess, and attend Studio courses with students.
Utilize technology tools as part of teaching and student management responsibilities.
Provide support to students’ emotional and hygienic needs.
May work with other grade levels and perform administrative support when Metcalf is closed but university is open.
Required qualifications include being at least 19 years old and meeting one of several education/testing criteria (e.g., high school diploma and ETS Parapro or ACT Workkeys scores, associate degree, or 60 semester hours).
Preferred qualifications include experience with early childhood learners, coursework in early childhood/elementary education, basic technology skills, and possession of educator or substitute teacher license.
Salary ranges from $15.00 to $18.11 per hour.
Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Position subject to academic break layoff from late May through mid-August.
