The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is hiring a Teacher for the Carolina Community Academy. The position involves teaching kindergarten through second grade, fostering innovative instructional practices, collaborating with school and university staff, and supporting the social-emotional, physical, and academic development of students at the lab school.
Highlights
Teach K-2 classrooms at the Carolina Community Academy and coordinate teacher assistants.
Develop innovative, integrated, inquiry-based, and student-centered lesson plans using evidence-based strategies.
Collaborate with the Academy Principal, UNC liaison, university faculty, and community partners.
Maintain clear classroom expectations, employ restorative practices, and foster a growth mindset.
Assess student progress regularly with formative and summative assessments to guide instruction.
Bachelor’s degree in elementary education and current or obtainable North Carolina teaching license required.
Experience working with at-risk and diverse student populations preferred, especially candidates with UNC Chapel Hill teaching program background.
Strong communication skills and collaborative engagement with families, colleagues, and community expected.
