Job Summary
The Department of Physiology is putting out a call for TAs for PGY 208 (Elementary Physiology Lab) and PGY 206 (Elementary Physiology). The UK Graduate School will be providing the Department with TA tuition scholarships for the academic year 2026-2027 (fall and spring semesters) for these positions.

According to the Graduate School, Full-time TA Tuition Scholarships are for TAs who work 20 hours per week and their stipend will be covered by the College or Department. They will likely be meeting this teaching need with ½ TAs (10 hours per week), the Graduate School will pay for ½ student’s tuition and their ½ stipend will be covered by the College or Department. This allows for the commitment to have a lesser effect on research efforts.

TAs are required to undergo initial training prior to the start of classes and be evaluated each semester.

PGY 208 (Elementary Physiology Laboratory, divided into 6 sections) is a 1-credit hour online physiology laboratory course that complements PGY 206 (3-credit hour lecture course). PGY 208 overall structure and experiments will be overseen by a faculty member (Thad Wilson for the upcoming semester). The time commitment for PGY 208 is proposed to be three 90 min synchronous online open lab (TA would be available to help students through the physiology simulations with the exact time to be determined by the TAs and faculty member), a TA meeting, and grading and providing feedback for lab assignments (remaining hours).

These applications will be reviewed by the PGY 208 Course Director and the PGY Director of Education.

Please feel free to reach out to Thad Wilson for any clarifications or questions.
