Job Summary
Technical Business Analyst II

The Technical Business Analyst, II directly supports the ServiceNow Development team. They act as a pivotal partner to the ServiceNow Product Manager and Scrum team, taking ownership of translating complex business needs into clear, actionable user stories. This role requires a strong analytical mindset with a solid foundation in technology and Agile methodologies. The analyst will drive backlog refinement, lead requirements gathering, and perform deep story‑level analysis to ensure the continuous delivery of high‑quality product increments.

Responsibilities
Technical Business Analyst II

Story Analysis & Definition: Deconstruct complex business requests into well‑defined user stories, establishing clear and comprehensive acceptance criteria that align with strategic ServiceNow product goals.

Backlog Management: Partner with the Product Manager to maintain a continuously prioritized and groomed backlog, proactively identifying dependencies, risks, and technical constraints.

Requirements Gathering: Facilitate stakeholder meetings, interviews, and collaboration sessions to understand business needs and accurately translate them into technical requirements.

Agile Collaboration: Play a key role in sprint ceremonies (planning, refinement, stand-ups, retrospectives), serving as the primary point of contact for developers needing story‑level clarification.

Process Documentation: Create and maintain documentation such as workflow diagrams.

Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve as a central communication hub among business requesters, the Product Manager, and the Scrum team, ensuring alignment and transparency throughout the full story lifecycle.

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Technical Business Analyst, II: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.

Preferences
Technical Acumen: Understanding of SDLC, software products, APIs, data flows and system integration.

Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of clearly documenting complex user stories and technical criteria.

Autonomous Execution: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive story requests to completion with minimal oversight.

Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) practices.

Previous experience operating within or closely supporting a Product Management/Product Owner framework.

Experience creating process maps or simple diagrams (Lucidchart, Visio, Miro)
