As a technical designer, you will support faculty during studio classes and critiques through hands-on technical guidance. This includes leading demonstrations, skill-based sessions, and workshops aligned with course goals. Workshops will focus on fabrication, CAD, digital sketching, and prototyping for the accessory and sneaker design programs. You will also collaborate with studio and building managers to ensure access to tools and materials. Additionally, you will mentor students and help troubleshoot the design process during the prototyping phase. Responsibilities include the development of high-quality mock-ups for 3D collaborations and the refinement of digital and physical workflows to enhance design efficiency and quality.
In this role, you will develop digital design workflows and templates across platforms and assess new design software applications for classrooms and studios. You will oversee the operation and maintenance of 3D printers and the production of shoelaces, handbag trims, soles, and eyewear components. Additionally, you will manage a material library focusing on 3D-printed samples, emerging fibers, and sustainable materials. Responsibilities include the organization and archival of all student projects, such as process books, mock-ups, and final prototypes. You will also help prepare materials for showcases, portfolios, and industry presentations. Among other duties, you will collaborate with the awards and recognition office to assist students with design competition submissions to ensure success on both domestic and international platforms.

Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, accessory design, or a related field
- At least two years of professional experience in accessory, sneaker, or product design, including prototyping and fabrication
- Proficiency in design software, including Rhino, SolidWorks, KeyShot, Adobe Creative Suite, ClO3D, Gravity Sketch, and Autodesk Fusion 360
- Experience with 3D printing and digital fabrication tools
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Familiarity with educational settings and student mentorship
Travel required:
Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
