The role: 
The Technical Product Manager of Content Distribution will be responsible for the vision of the piping and infrastructure (predominantly in the form of APIs) that take content from our content management systems and distribute them to front-end teams across the Newsela organization for consumption. This role may also be responsible for recommending third-party APIs needed to make our content rendering more efficient and flexible or for helping implement other technical infrastructure to serve new types of content. A successful technical product manager in this role will properly scope work, align with stakeholders and provide clear milestones and documentation for collaborating teams to make implementing the use of these content APIs painless.Their collaboration and buy-in from stakeholders on product and tech will lead to clear roadmapping with no surprise dependencies and and their outcome-orientation will mean the team is always working on the highest priority work. You will build relationships, buy-in, and alignment between Tech, Content and Product stakeholders. Additionally, you will manage executive stakeholder expectations on delivery of initiatives across teams 
Reporting to the VP, Content Production, you will partner closely with the Content Tooling, Viewing and Activities team to provide a strategy and vision for the content tooling’s backend, making it seamless for both Content and Viewing teams to test and iterate on ideas without affecting site reliability or user data. The Author and Publish team aims to make Newsela the most responsive product on the market to classroom content needs. With members of content, product and technology represented, the team creates tools for content creation that are flexible enough to change as rapidly as the 21st century classroom demands.

Why you’re a great fit: 
  • You have 5+ years of experience in technical product management 
  • You have demonstrated success in designing and executing on a roadmap in collaboration with other teams who do not report to you 
  • Additionally you have experience working directly with backend engineering teams 
  • You are able to leverage your communication and analytical skills to effectively prioritize work and deliver initiatives on time and that meet or exceed expectations of the larger team and company
