Job Summary
The Technical Trainer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality technical training programs for both external customers and internal technical staff. This role serves as the central connective tissue between product teams, subject matter experts, and the learner community — translating complex software functionality into engaging, accessible training experiences. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable leading a live system administration workshop, authoring a self-paced eLearning course, and coaching a seasoned engineer on how to share their expertise effectively.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Customer Training Delivery
    • Plan, schedule, and facilitate instructor-led system administration training sessions for external customers, covering installation, configuration, user management, and day-to-day platform operations.
    • Adapt delivery style and content depth to accommodate audiences ranging from novice end users to experienced IT administrators.
    • Conduct pre-training needs assessments and post-training evaluations to ensure learning objectives are met and continuously improved.
    • Serve as a product knowledge resource during training engagements, fielding technical questions and escalating product issues as appropriate.
  • eLearning & Self-Paced Course Development
    • Design and produce self-paced training courses for electronic delivery using authoring tools.
    • Script, storyboard, record, and edit course content including video walkthroughs, interactive simulations, knowledge checks, and assessments.
    • Publish and maintain courses within the company’s Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and version control.
    • Apply instructional design principles to create learner-centered experiences that drive measurable outcomes.
  • New Product Introduction Training
    • Partner with Services Organizational Readiness Team (SORT) to identify training needs for new product releases, feature updates, and platform changes prior to general availability.
    • Develop and deliver timely internal technical enablement sessions to ensure customer-facing technical staff are fully prepared before new releases.
    • Translate complex engineering specifications and product documentation into clear, practical training content for technical audiences.
    • Maintain a continuous feedback loop with SORT and Product Management to keep training content aligned with evolving product direction.
  • Training Templates & Standards Development
    • Collaborate with Technical Writer to create and maintain standardized training templates including course shells, slide deck frameworks, facilitator guides, participant workbooks, and course syllabus templates.
    • Establish and document training development standards, style guides, and quality checklists to ensure consistency across all training materials.
    • Continuously evaluate and refresh templates based on learner feedback, delivery experience, and changes in instructional best practices.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) Coordination & Knowledge Transfer
    • Identify, engage, and guide internal subject matter experts in converting deep technical knowledge into structured, learner-ready training content.
    • Conduct working sessions with SMEs to extract, organize, and validate technical content, minimizing the burden on SMEs while maximizing the quality of output.
    • Provide coaching and light instructional design support to SMEs contributing to training programs, building internal training capability over time.
    • Maintain a repository of SME-sourced knowledge assets and coordinate with team leads to ensure content remains current.
