Job Description

Job Summary

With a background in training development, learning technology, or space systems, the Technical Training Specialist will work closely with production management, technicians, and subject matter experts to design and deploy effective learning programs. This role focuses on developing, delivering, and evaluating training for aerospace technicians involved in manufacturing, assembly, and testing operations. The specialist ensures all technicians are proficient in company standards, regulatory requirements, and safety practices critical to aerospace production. They will translate technical procedures into clear, accessible training materials that support consistent performance. Collaboration across teams is essential to identify skill gaps and create targeted learning interventions. The specialist will implement modern learning technologies to enhance training effectiveness and accessibility. Regular assessment of training outcomes will inform continuous improvement of instructional content. This role supports technician readiness and contributes to the high-quality production of aerospace systems and components.

This role will be fully on-site in our Greenwood Village office. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct classroom and hands-on technical training for new hires and existing technicians.
  • Train personnel on topics such as harness assembly, harness routing, polymerics, mechanical installations, soldering, MLI installation, precision assembly, tooling, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and implement improvements based on feedback and performance outcomes.
  • Assess technicians’ skills and maintain records of training completion and certifications.
  • Identify skill gaps and recommend targeted training interventions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure content accuracy and alignment with current processes and technologies.
  • Working collaboratively with subject matter experts (SMEs) and responsible engineers to create face-to-face or virtual instructor-led sessions using learning principles to enhance the learning experience.
  • Assisting in the design, development, delivery, and deployment of multimedia and web-based training utilizing a variety of methods and tools.
  • Stay current with industry developments, aerospace manufacturing standards, and emerging technologies.
  • Preparing instructors and hosting engaging in-person and virtual learning.
  • Reinforce York company safety protocols, human factors awareness, and quality control standards.

Qualifications Required for the Role

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in aerospace manufacturing, assembly, or maintenance operations.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aviation Maintenance, or related field. Equivalent technical experience may be considered.
  • IPC Certifications
  • 2+ years of experience in technical training or instructional design preferred.
  • Ability to translate concepts into training products.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience setting up and hosting trainings.  virtual training using Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or an equivalent technology.
  • Ability to collaborate across York with enthusiasm for our work and respect for our co-workers.
  • Strong technical understanding of space vehicle systems, composites, or precision manufacturing.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and training management software (e.g., LMS).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles a plus.
