UNC Charlotte is hiring a Temp Academic Advisor for the Civil and Environmental Engineering department. The advisor will provide academic guidance to transfer and upper-level students, review degree progress, assist with new student orientation, and support students facing academic challenges. The role requires autonomous work within a team-oriented office managing a significant advising caseload.
Highlights
- Provide academic advising to second- through senior-year students, including transfers and first-time-in-college matriculated students, majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
- Review degree progress and transfer credits and develop advising plans.
- Submit academic petitions and assist with new student orientation.
- Advise on major course requirements, academic policies and resources.
- Track and support students with multiple Early Alerts or midterm warnings to foster academic success.
- Monitor students on academic probation and provide intervention strategies.
- Required master’s degree in academic advising, student services, higher education, engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred 2+ years of higher education student services experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint; knowledge of BANNER, Banner Self Service, Canvas, and DegreeWorks is a plus.
- Temporary part-time position (20 hours per week) with a pay rate of $25 - $27 per hour for a 6-month assignment under the College of Engineering.
