Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.  | Bachelor’s degree in education, curriculum development, adult education, or a similar related field. At least 3 years of experience working in K-12 schools or junior colleges in a licensed and/or professional role that is staff and/or student facing. At least 2 years of experience in developing training curriculum. At least 2 years of experience delivering training curriculum to various audiences Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications  | Master’s degree in education, curriculum development, adult education, or a similar related field. At least two years of membership on a campus or district-based committee that impacts safety and security (examples: school behavioral threat assessment team, emergency operations planning team, school safety and security committee, school health advisory council, crisis response team, 504/SPED team, mental health team, etc.) At least two years of experience in an emergency management related field.

Job Description
The Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC) is an official university-level research center at Texas State University. The TxSSC is tasked in Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code and the Governor’s Homeland Security Strategic Plan with key school safety initiatives and mandates. The TxSSC serves as the clearinghouse for the dissemination of safety and security information through research, training, and technical assistance for K-12 schools and junior colleges throughout the state of Texas. As a result, Texas has become a national leader in school safety practices and is relied upon for assistance and guidance from jurisdictions throughout the nation.The TxSSC is seeking candidates that are experienced in public education and are interested in having a positive impact on the safety and security of Texas schools. This position will have the unique opportunity to research, develop, and deliver training curriculum (virtual and in-person), technical assistance, and other resources focused on school safety and security. Job responsibilities include ensuring training and resources are current with the latest federal guidelines, Texas laws, Texas Governor’s Homeland Security Strategic Plan, and current best practices. The position will also develop training curriculum on a variety of school safety related topics as needed for educators, administrators, school-based law enforcement, and parent organizations in coordination with regional training conducted by the TxSSC.
Job Duties  | Support the implementation of Texas School Safety Center mission and vision. Develop school safety and security curriculum that relies on various delivery models (in-person, virtual, self-paced video courses, manuals, FAQ’s, etc.). Support internal and contracted facilitators by moderating in-person and virtual trainings. Facilitate stakeholder presentations using in-person and virtual delivery models. Conduct cyclical audits of training and education content to ensure the most current legal mandates and best practices are included in the content. Engage in ongoing professional development to improve school safety and security skillset and knowledge. Perform other duties as assigned by the program manager.
