JOB SUMMARY:
The Training Specialist is responsible for developing and delivering training that supports our new and current associates. The associate designs and delivers instructor-led, classroom, webinar, and one-on-one training that supports WNG, with emphasis on Western National Property Management (WNPM) Sales and Software. The Training Specialist works in close collaboration with internal stakeholders, teams, and Subject Matter Experts (SME) and develops and maintains instructional material, user guides, and job aids to support Western National University training course offerings; this includes all aspects of on-site operations and leasing. Training will include, but is not limited to, integrated software systems, operational procedures, leasing, customer service, and sales. The Training Specialist provides work-flow solutions and develops and implements course content while improving the effectiveness of training delivered. The associate will play a role in the implementation and rollout of new technologies, as well as conversions of existing systems that support operations. The Training Specialist may be responsible for or support other department initiatives to include, but not limited to the mystery shop and the peer-to-peer learning program. The associate will assist the Training & Marketing department with additional tasks, special projects and company events as needed.
This position is offering $35.00 to $44.00 per hour depending on experience, including discretionary bonus potential, including benefits. Please Note: This is not a hybrid or remote position.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Facilitate and administer training for new and current Associates.
- Conduct ongoing ancillary classes outside of the CORE curriculum.
- Collaborate on design, development, and delivery of existing and new training material, and Associate training curriculum to include CORE training classes as well as ancillary training classes.
- Creates training materials including course outlines, instructional materials, PowerPoints, class exercises, and training job aids
- Participate in courses, workshops, and seminars focused on the latest trends and best practices in online training development.
- Provide hands-on training and coaching to on-site Associates in the field, if needed.
- Assess individual’s development as it relates to training and provide feedback to Property Management supervision as needed.
- Coordinate and administer one-on-one (on demand) training based on individual needs.
- Designs and delivers training programs to address the expanded skill set needed to support Associates and Operations learning needs and goals.
- Continue personal education to ensure alignment with industry standards, emerging technologies, and instructional design methodologies.
- Work in conjunction with Property Management and Training to ensure that training material is updated to address current WNPM procedural and policy revisions, and in compliance with the Community Operation Manual (COM) on an ongoing basis.
- Design, develop, and implement online training programs using various multimedia tools and e-learning platforms.
- Create engaging and interactive training content, including videos, quizzes, simulations, and other digital learning materials.
- Work closely with Regionals and RVPs to ensure training needs and/or concerns are addressed.
- Collaborate on design and implementation of webinars and blended learning environment as it relates to training.
- Meets regularly with IT support staff to detect recurring issues that may require additional training.
- Provides guidance and support to Sr. Education Coordinator and Education Coordinator as it relates to scheduling, classroom set-up/registration and transcript management.
- Support the Mystery Shop Program to include, but not limited to, overseeing the progress of the shop order, acting as a liaison between the shop company and WNG and mediating shop disputes (if applicable)
- Support our internal peer-to-peer learning program to include, but not limited to, providing recommendations for peer-to-peer matchings, additional training, and follow-up
- Support Department head in all aspects as they relate to achieving overall department goals and objectives.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Property management experience (preferred, but not required)
- Three or more years of training and content development experience
- Familiar with instructional design theory and/or adult learning theory
- Understanding of effective teaching methodologies and tools
- Ability to present complex information to various learning styles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to motivate others with excellent presentation skills and comfortable speaking to large groups.
- Project a professional business image.
- Comfortable working with a team and collaborating on training projects
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, strong time management, and organization skills.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity, work under pressure, and problem solve.
- Proficient in Property Management Software, Yardi preferred but not required
- Proficient in Microsoft WORD, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Proficient in delivering training via webinar-based platforms, i.e. Zoom, Teams, etc.
- Exposure and basic knowledge of blended learning technology preferred
- Enthusiasm for learning new skills/products/softwares
- Ability and willingness to travel for training sessions, site visits, meetings, and other business needs, including occasional overnight travel.
Driving Functions:
- Travel to various property locations or off-site training venues to facilitate in-person training sessions, provide on-site support, and observe associate performance in real-world environments.
- Transport training materials, equipment, handouts, or supplies as needed to support classes, workshops, onboarding sessions, site visits, and company events.
- Assists with set-up/clean-up of company functions (i.e., company sponsored events, luncheons, and Associate recognition events); and other activities which will include driving to third party locations as necessary.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATION:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
- Must maintain an acceptable driving record.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred but not required
- 3-5 years of related experience in training and content development as a facilitator
