Trauma Registry Research Data Analyst 2 Full Description

Department Overview: 
The Trauma and Injury Prevention Program strives to provide the highest quality of care for injured patients in the most resource-efficient manner possible and reduce the burden of injury in our communities. We constantly strive to improve the quality of care through a careful and methodical review of all data. The Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) process utilizes concurrent and retrospective processes to review data, utilizing evidence-based medicine to improve outcomes for injured patients. The Trauma Program ascribes to the philosophy of faculty-driven care in which the attending trauma surgeons are involved in all aspects of the trauma patient¿s care.
 
This position serves as in-house expert on all trauma registry software, serves as in-house support for this software. Additionally, this position is the Trauma Registry Data Analyst, providing high level research design, report generation and data analysis to support incidence, treatment and outcomes, performance improvement, administrative planning and marketing, support programs, staff publications and research activities. Serves as expert resource on software and reports to the Oregon Health Division Trauma/EMS section and to Trauma Registrars statewide Function/Duties of Position: 
  • Maintains, modifies and updates the trauma registry software(s). Programs new data points as needed, designs and initiates new rules within the software to facilitate data entry and retrieval, creates chalkboards with appropriate rules. Understands complex interaction of data fields.
  • Designs and runs reports to facilitate performance improvement. Monitors trends in production and communicates effectively 
  • Works with researchers; participates in study design, collects and analyzes data. Participates in the preparation for publication of manuscripts in peer review journals 
  • Performs analysis for and participates in the design of the trauma Annual Report. 
  • Monitors and investigates information technology problems, repairs those amenable, reports those unamenable to in-house repairs to the vendor. Tracks issue through to completion.
  • Has sole responsibility for exporting trauma registry data to regulatory and accreditation organizations-ensures data integrity, security of the files and compliance with rules/regulations concerning HIPPA data. Ensures compliance with OHSU administrative guidelines for data export.
 
Required Qualifications: 
  • Master's Degree in relevant field AND 2 years of relevant experience OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field AND 4 years of relevant experienc
