Job Description 
Central Virginia Community College is located in Lynchburg, Virginia, in view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. CVCC is a comprehensive two-year institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students in occupational/technical programs and university-parallel/college transfer programs.

Central Virginia Community College (CVCC} is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable individual to provide academic and financial support tools (i.e., FAFSA support, financial literacy education, financial resource options), and implement programming that supports the overall success of college participants in the TRIO Student Support Services program who are first-generation, income-eligible, and/or students with disabilities.

The individual will be expected to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of CVCC policy, practices, offerings, and services with the primary responsibility of providing support directly to students, advising, and creating programming for students. Monitoring students’ academic progress, directing students to additional resources, and assisting with preparing the Annual Performance Report for the U.S. Department of Education. Able to work on projects independently and as part of a team.

The TRIO Financial Aid Advisor will provide information to participants on both the full range of Federal student financial aid programs and benefits (including Federal Pell Grantawards and loan forgiveness) and resources for locating public and private scholarships. The TRIO Financial Aid Advisor will book guest speakers and create and process grant-compliance attendance and evaluation paperwork. The TRIO Financial Aid Advisor will assist participants in completing the FAFSA each year and ensuring proper forms are complete for full consideration for federal grant funds and scholarships to minimize the need for student loans.

The TRIO Financial Aid Advisor will assist in offering a comprehensive Personal Finance course to qualifying SSS Participants. The Advisor will offer comprehensive “just-in-time” financial check-in services during student intake for SSS Participants.
The TRIO Financial Aid Advisor will conduct financial literacy training and monitor satisfactory academic progress (SAP) within aid eligibility guidelines. The TRIO Financial Aid Advisor will participate in open houses, orientation sessions, FAFSA completion, hosting workshops, and other events to help in navigating the financial aid process while supporting SSS participants in making informed decisions about student loans and the financial and economic impact they may have long-term.

Special Assignments  | May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications  | Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite. Experience providing services to diverse populations is required. Experience that exhibits strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks in a stressful environment. Knowledge of financial aid and financial literacy.

Additional Considerations  | Education, training and/or experience equivalent to an associate’s degree.
