Job Summary
Provide individual and small group tutoring to students. Assist students in improving academic achievement by meeting with them on a regular basis to identify learning challenges and improving study skills.

Other assistance may include: reviewing class material, discussing the text, preparing for tests, formulating ideas for papers, and working on solutions to help improve academic skills and abilities.

Tutoring is a supplement to classroom teaching.
Responsibilities
  • Assist student-athletes with continued higher education skill development including the following: time management, writing, reading, organizational, communication, study, test preparation, etc
  • Develop Support plans based on student needs
  • Meet with students once or twice per week during designated times to create task sheets and work on skill development
  • Generate weekly plans with athletes emphasizing both long-term and short-term goal setting
  • Work with the mentor team to schedule subject-specific tutors if the need arises
  • Generate reports following each mentor session to follow progress and accountability
  • Utilize various computer programs as needed to track student progress

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are required.
