Located in the Valley of the Sun in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, GCU is a regionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University.

We are looking for tutoring staff to contribute to a team that provides tutoring services to enhance the student learning experience.
 
Phoenix metro area in-person position with a five day, 8-hour per day schedule: Sunday-Thursday, 10:30am-7pm.

What you will do:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Academic Centers for Excellence (ACE) tutoring locations, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of tutoring services.
  • Schedule peer tutors based on student demand and tutor availability.
  • Monitor and evaluate tutor performance and provide ongoing training and support to ensure quality tutoring.
  • Develop and maintain tutoring resources, including training materials and online content to support tutor activities and enhance student learning.
  • Work closely with students to understand their academic needs and adjust tutoring services accordingly.
  • Promote the Academic Centers for Excellence (ACE) to increase student engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, attendance, and tutor performance.
  • Analyze data to assess tutoring services and implement improvements.
  • Collaborate with the academic support services staff and other academic departments to align tutoring services with institutional goals.
  • Participate in meetings and professional development activities.
  • Provide prompt and friendly service to students, faculty, and staff and assist in difficult service interactions.
  • Provide a positive example to students and student workers by supporting the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
  • Position requires evening and weekend hours.
  • Responsible for supervisory activities for student workers.

What you will have:
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Previous tutoring experience preferred.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in supervision and hiring preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to assist others in the use of personal computers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to be proactive and flexible.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
  • Must pass pre-employment background investigations
